The cheapest season is during the rainy season in Puerto Vallarta which is during the months of July until September. Precipitation is about 7.39 to 14.57 inches. October through December is mainly when tourist season begins to perk up and discounts are rare.

The best way to get around in Puerto Vallarta is by bus. Of course the ride is super cheap (.50 USD one way) but besides that, there are many stops along the route. Puerto Vallarta buses service the Hotel Zone, PV downtown area and Marina Vallarta. If you are interested in Puerta Vallarta only and not traveling to places outside, then focus catching only the green buses which are the local bus transportation.
